SPOTLIGHT: CL & RENEE MORGAN | High Point Husband and Wife

CL and Renée Morgan’s story began back in Colorado, where high school rodeo first put them in the same arena. CL wandered into the cutting pen trying to be an all-around cowboy, borrowed a horse that Renee had previously been showing, marked well, and accidentally caught Renee’s attention. Life carried them from those early rodeo days into marriage, raising two boys, and doing life together as a team. They moved to Texas in the the late 90's then back to Colorado after the passing of Renee's father. Of course Texas doesn't let you stay gone for too long, so the duo moved back and now calls Perrin, Texas home.

Roping and horses have stayed constant the whole way through. CL roped at every level from high school to the pros, while Renee roped and barrelraced. They both later stepped back so their boys could rodeo. Their rodeo background is full of achievements. While Renee may not mention her success, CL filled us in saying, "I'll brag on her! She's won over 50 saddles in her lifetime and competed at every level from Little Britches to Dodge Circuit Finals."

High Point Winners

When they joined 40 Plus Team Roping they immediately felt right back at home where their roots began. Now that their boys are grown, roping has become the thing they do completely side by side. They appreciate how JP, Wesley, Tammy, and the entire crew keep things roper focused, organized, and enjoyable.

This year’s finals turned into something they never expected. The couple had several wins in Hamilton, Texas at the finals. Renee planned to just rope and be solid. A rope change in the mix added something even better. The power couple were the High Point Winners for this year's finals! In 29 years of marriage, a ton of rodeo miles, and wins all over the country, they both agree this was the most special win of all.
