Steve Wolf

Steve Wolf has been a member of the 40+ Team Roping Championships for three years. He primarily ropes on the head side, but can occasionally be seen heeling as well. Two great AQHA geldings travel with Steve when he ropes on the weekends. His 9-year-old sorrel gelding goes by Coke, and his grey gelding goes by Goose. Coke is Steve's consistent Slide horse, while Goose competes in the 10s and 9s. Both horses have helped Steve into the winner's circle at multiple 40+ ropings in the 2023 season and helped him finish 4th in the 2023 #10.5 Year End. 

Steve's team roping journey began 40 years ago under the tutelage of another 40+ Team Roping Championships member, Willie Gasperson. When asked about team roping goals he has Steve said, "I just do it to hang out in fellowship and have fun. I guess a goal would be to win one of the year end events at the 40+ Finals." 

When Steve isn't buying cattle or ranching, he can be found riding the horses with his wife, Candice. "I couldn't do this without my wife. She keeps the horses legged up, looking good, and taken are of so that I get to reap the rewards and have fun." Steve enjoys all aspects of horsemanship, and being able to consistently compete is one of the biggest benefits of the 40+ Team Roping Championships. Steve says, "It's great that there are so many events that are local so it's easy to get done with the work week and go rope. I think that JP and Wesley are doing a great job and the 40+ is in good hands."
